Air Fryer Lid Hack for the Instant Pot Pro Crisp
In today's quick tip, I'm sharing my hack for snapping on that air fryer lid cover to the Instant Pot Pro Crisp. The cover offers important protection for the heat element on the air fryer lid but it's SO hard to get the thing on. I hope this hack helps you scream less and cook more :)

    Do you have to use the airfryer insert to airfry? Or can you use just the stainless steel parts for airfrying?

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm 9 днів тому

      Hi Lucinda, No you can just use it as a 'mini oven' and use any ovenproof tin/dish that fits or just within the stainless steel pot itself. Hope that helps.

    Ooh, you're got a newer, better model Instant Pot than the one I have. Boo, hoo, hoo! Hmm, I've never had a problem with it being too loud; well, unless you use the quick release (which I seldom do; steam is not good for your kitchen cabinets). What else I like about the IP: it's made in Canada, eh? Or at least it was a few years ago.

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm 9 днів тому

      Ha ha, yes Quick Release and kitchen cabinets definitely don't mix :) Yes they definitely were a(nother) great thing to come out of Canada. I'm not sure who owns what since that bankruptcy filing though and wikipedia didn't help me work it out :)

  • @MrRezillo
    @MrRezillo 12 днів тому

    Very helpful; thanks. Good point about the conventionall "crock pot" being ceramic on all sides, whereas the Instant Pot only heats from the bottom. I used to do a lot slow cooking with the slower cooker. I remember what a royal pain it was to wash, though, much harder than washing the IP's removal stainless steel pot.

    Great overview! I came from your older video where you were returning the all in one IP so I was curious what you had to say about the Pro Crisp vs the Duo Crisp! I have the an older version of the Pro Crisp (I got it just over three years ago, though in Canada) and it used to come with the same trivet as your Duo Pot Crisp, i.e. with the trivet that you can reverse and lock the legs, so they've obviously changed that. Everything else about my Duo Pro Crisp seems to be the same as what you showed. 😊

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm 19 днів тому

      Thank you so much. No, you can only use the handle lids in the Pro Crisp and Pro. They 're a completely different shape so I had to buy another of the new models as a spare. Worth it if you have the money as as these new style ones can also be used on the hob so can replace a large pan if you're short on space.

    Does the pot from instant pot duo crisp go with the pro one ? Or there’re not compatible? I use generally two pots and the one that goes with instant pot pro is not avalaible now in 8L can I use my old one ? Thank you

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm 20 днів тому

      No I’m afraid the ones with handles only work in certain models like the pro and pro crisp. That’s odd that they’ve stopped making the ‘non handle’ model for the 8l. I hope you can find a used one somewhere

      Hi Helen, yes the ones with handles only work in certain models like the pro and pro crisp so if yours started with the ‘non handle’ bowl, that’s the one you need. Hope that makes sense 👍

    The WIZARDRESS OF INSTANT POT! This was simply brilliant, and something I struggled with until my 8 Qt IP normal pressure cooking lid bit the dust :(. I should have thought of this myself LOL!!! I have a question. My unit worked fine for about 1 month then it would release steam as it was coming to pressure, the little pin would pop up and while it went thru the "cook" cycle it had steam escaping the whole time from that weight that sits on the knob. I examined it and it appears there's a tab that when you engage the pressure switch by turning counter clockwise, it doesn't all the heavy weight to seat properly and it stays tilted a small amount, just enough to allow a small but steady stream of steam to escape. Have you run into this? They tested it with me several times even replaced the weight for me and nothing fixed it, of course because the tab wasn't seating correctly. SO what should I do to get that to settle into position correctly OR should I just clip it off and use tongs to tip the weight to release the steam? It's a very large door stop right now that also allows me to do sous vide for larger sized items and to use that air fryer lid that is great for upper body work out LOL!!

    • @CookingandCalm
      @CookingandCalm 19 днів тому

      Thanks you! Oh that sounds like a very weird problem and I've not come across it from anyone else here either. Did Instant Pot not offer to replace your lid? It sounds like a problem with the internal steam mechanism maybe? To be honest, I wouldn't mess about too much with that bit as all the safety stuff for high pressure could be disrupted by the same fault. I'd be tempted to take a video of what happens and send it up to Instant Pot if you haven't already so it cant be minimised. Their customer service can be a bit hit and miss in my experience but that sounds like it's not fit fur purpose at all. Good luck with it - hope you get a replacement and , in the meantime, keep lifting that air fryer lid 💪 🤣

    I loved my new 8 Qt Duo Crisp and used it for about 2 months. I got to where I didn't mind the heavy air fryer lid so much and bought a small air fryer to do most normal jobs. I kept the Duo Crisp Air Fryer on standby for doing baby back ribs and chicken which is too messy for a small air fryer. Well I was in the honeymoon phase when all of a sudden one day the normal pressure cooker lid wouldn't come to pressure. I tried EVERYTHING I replaced the seal, made sure all was in perfect order but it just kept releasing steam and wouldn't push the little button up. Finally after sending me a new weight the customer service gave up and gifted me with a brand new model of the Duo Crisp it had handles that were attached to the pot which meant I couldn't use my extra one I'd bought for the other model, it had too many bells and whistles and my daughter who really wanted the 8qt became the new owner of it and I bought a 3 Qt. Actually the 3 Qt. has handled most everything I've needed it for since I'm single BUT I kept the old original 8 qt. thinking it would allow me to cook larger volumes of sous vide and I could still use for barbecuing my ribs and chicken (I could pre cook if needed in my 3 qt. and transfer for the 8 qt. air fryer) But now I'm really wanting the larger volume for some of the things I've run up against so am going to see if I can buy a "new" replacement lid from whoever does the refurbs and hope against hope that gives me back my original 8 qt. I loved your whole video on this one. I think for some things they need to stick with what works in this case our original Duo Crisp 8 qt. LOL!! Best wishes

      Hi there, don't worry, your english is totally understandable (you can always comment here in your own language and I just throw into google translate which is mostly good enough to understand) . I would definitely start by doing exactly as you say but I'd personally still check at the end with an Instant Read Thermometer because if your IP is like mine, it may take even longer for denser meats etc. I mostly pressure cook so am not an expert on this, but others here might be able to help too. Good luck

      Hi Berverlea, sorry to hear that. I've had problems getting a response too to be honest, though others have said customer service are responsive. It seems to be a bit of a lottery. There is a UK Instant Pot Facebook group which Instant Pot run and moderate and that could be an alternate way of getting in touch with them. Worth a try maybe? I got a good response when I returned my Ultimate to Argos. They asked me to ring Instant Pot from the shop to try and get a returns number but when the manager saw that I was still there trying to get IP to answer an hour later, they just refunded me. 5 stars to them from me! Good luck with it.

      Hi there, there are very mixed reviews about slow cooking with Instant pots. So I’m not really sure if one is better than the other to be honest. Some people really like them and others (like me) have found them pretty slow, even for slow cooking. I prefer to pressure cook so I’m not an expert on this. I hope you find some better advice from a slow cooking cook somewhere. Good luck 😊
